CANTOS
Commissioned for the 2019 Open Source Pharma Conference at the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI), University of Paris, France, Cantos explores the potential for community-driven open source drug discovery.
The faces generated by Cantos are created using open source code and freely available GPU’s via Google Colab. None of the faces represent real people; they are entirely synthetic, generated by a pre-trained machine learning model.
Cantos is part metaphor, part open source platform capable of being repurposed to generate a broad range of synthetic data, such as molecules, for machine learning-based drug discovery initiatives.
No knowledge of coding is necessary to run the installation’s sharable Colab notebook. With three clicks in a browser, communities of non-experts can leverage freely available computational resources to support data-driven research.
